MORE THAN A WATER WELL

Clean Water Changes Everything

A well does more than provide safe drinking water. It protects children from waterborne disease, reduces the time families spend collecting water, and helps students stay healthy enough to attend school.

When you sponsor a well through Drop in the Bucket, you are supporting the entire project—from hydrogeological surveying and drilling to pump installation, community training, and long-term follow-up.

Because we own and operate our own drilling equipment and employ experienced local teams, your support goes directly toward building a lasting water source for a school or community.

• Safe water close to home

• Better health and school attendance

• Less time spent collecting water

• Community training and local ownership

• A sustainable water source built to last

WHY DROP

Why Sponsor Through Drop in the Bucket?

We Build the Wells

Drop in the Bucket owns and operates its own drilling equipment and employs experienced local drillers. We carry out  the work from initial surveying through construction and completion.

Every Project Is Documented

Donors receive photographs, GPS coordinates, project details, and a dedicated webpage documenting the completed well.

Built for the Long Term

Water committees, pump-mechanic training, community ownership, and ongoing follow-up help keep each well working for years.

Twenty Years of Experience

Since 2006, Drop in the Bucket has completed more than 700 water and sanitation projects across East Africa.

How It Works

From Donation to Safe Water

1

Talk With Our Team

We discuss costs, dedication options, and identify the school or community your sponsorship will support.
2

We Identify the Right Community

Our field team works with local leaders to identify a school or community with an urgent need and the capacity to sustain the project.
3

We Survey and Drill

Our hydrogeologists assess the site, and our drilling crew constructs and tests the borehole.
4

The Community Is Prepared

Residents form a water committee and receive training in maintenance, hygiene, and long-term management.
5

You Receive the Story

We send photographs, GPS coordinates, project details, and the dedication from the completed well.

YOUR IMPACT

A Water Well That Will Change Lives for Decades

A drilled water well is more than a construction project. It becomes part of a community's daily life for years to come.

Students arrive at school healthy and ready to learn instead of spending hours collecting water. Teachers spend more time teaching. Health clinics can provide safer care. Families gain time to work, farm, and care for their children.

Every well we build is designed for long-term reliability. Community members receive training to maintain the pump, local water committees oversee its operation, and our field teams continue monitoring completed projects long after construction is finished.

When you sponsor a well through Drop in the Bucket, you are investing in a lasting source of clean water that will continue improving lives for an entire generation.

SEE YOUR IMPACT

Follow Your Well from Construction to Completion

Every sponsored well receives its own project documentation.

Throughout construction, we share photographs showing the progress of the project, from the initial survey through drilling, pump installation, and completion. Once the well is finished, you'll receive GPS coordinates, beneficiary information, and photographs of the community using the new water source.

Many sponsors enjoy watching the transformation as families begin using safe water for the first time.

For major sponsors and long-term partners, we can also help arrange guided visits to completed projects with our staff when appropriate.
