This was a rehabilitation project where we fixed an existing well that been broken for a long time.
The Mathiang Primary School is a very large school with 1412 pupils. Many of the students are recent returnees who had previously been living in the northern part of Sudan and either left to come back to South Sudan or were forced to leave.
At the time we repaired this well our friends at the World Food Program were providing cooked food for the kids so that they were able to stay until 2PM each day. For many of these children that food was the only thing they got to eat each day.
