The Starch Factory Primary School was set up by the local community to educate children living in the IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) camps. The UN set up the camps to house refugees from the 21-year-long guerilla war. A lot of the people living here felt they had nothing to return to in their villages and decided to stay in Lira. The Starch Factory Primary School was the first real chance many of these children had to obtain an education. In 2009 Drop in the Bucket drilled a well and built toilets for the Starch Factory Primary School in Lira, Uganda.
