There are always Challenges For an Africa water charity drilling wells in Nwoya, Uganda

Uganda Water Charity Drills Wells in Nwoya

Drop in the Bucket is an Africa water charity focused on bringing clean water to rural communities in Uganda, which is in East Africa. Our drilling team recently completed several new wells in the Nwoya district of northern Uganda, helping hundreds of families make drinking from unsafe water sources a thing of the past as they now start their healthier, safer future.

For generations, many people in Nwoya District depended on unreliable water sources like seasonal streams, hand-dug waterholes, or contaminated ponds. These water sources often dried up during the dry season or carried diseases like cholera, typhoid, and dysentery. Without clean water, everyday tasks like cooking, drinking, and bathing became risky and time-consuming—especially for women and children, who often spent hours walking long distances to collect water.

Thanks to some of our donors, we were able to drill six new wells in the Nwoya district. These newly drilled wells are more than just a water source. They represent a significant shift in the future of these villages. With clean water nearby, families are healthier, children miss fewer days of school, and women have more time to focus on income-generating activities or caring for their families.
