Before
Households in the village lacked a reliable on-site source of safe water and depended on distant or unprotected sources, leading to lost time and health risks—especially during rains and dry spells.
What We Built in Latengelere
Drop in the Bucket drilled a community borehole and installed a standard India mk ii hand pump with a reinforced concrete apron and upgraded stainless-steel riser pipes. The site was selected for central, safe access and straightforward maintenance.
Latengelere Now
Clean water is now available within the village for drinking, cooking, and daily hygiene. Collection time is reduced, and families have a predictable nearby source that supports health and routine.
Use & Upkeep
A Water User Committee oversees daily use and cleanliness. Trained local hand pump technicians handle first-line repairs and escalate to sub-county/district authorities as needed.
