Ogony Community Before the Well

Before the borehole was drilled, the nearest water source for Ogony community was a school borehole located approximately 1 km away. While this source provided cleaner water, it was too far from the community for daily household use.

Without reliable water close to home, families struggled to collect enough water for drinking, cooking, and washing. This often led to households using unsafe alternatives when the school borehole was not practical to access.

What We Built at Ogony Community

Drop in the Bucket drilled a borehole well to provide a reliable source of clean groundwater for Ogony community. The well was equipped with a standard hand pump, a reinforced concrete apron, and upgraded stainless-steel riser pipes to improve durability and water quality.

Bringing a protected water source closer reduces reliance on distant water points and supports healthier daily routines for families.

Ogony Community Now

With clean water now available closer to home, families in Ogony community can meet their daily water needs more safely and consistently. Reduced travel time for water collection helps households spend more time on school, work, and farming.

Reliable access to clean water supports better health and reduces dependence on unsafe sources for all 626 residents.

Use & Upkeep

Community members oversee daily use and cleanliness of the borehole. Routine maintenance and first-line repairs are managed locally, with additional technical support coordinated through sub-county and district authorities when required.
