Kal A 2 Ocega Village Before the Well
Before the borehole was drilled, families in Kal A 2 Ocega village relied on a waterhole located approximately 3 km from the village. This source was unprotected and unsafe, exposing residents to waterborne diseases and other health risks.
The long distance placed a heavy burden on women and children, who were responsible for collecting water each day. Time spent walking for unsafe water reduced time for household work, farming, school, and rest.
What We Built at Kal A 2 Ocega Village
Drop in the Bucket drilled a borehole well to provide a reliable source of clean groundwater for Kal A 2 Ocega village. The well was equipped with a standard hand pump, a reinforced concrete apron, and upgraded stainless-steel riser pipes to improve durability and water quality.
This intervention replaced a distant and unsafe waterhole with a protected water source located within the village.
Kal A 2 Ocega Village Now
With clean water now available closer to home, families in Kal A 2 Ocega village can collect water more safely and consistently. Reduced travel time for water collection helps households keep up with daily responsibilities and hygiene needs.
Reliable access to clean water supports better health and improves daily life for all 327 residents.
Use & Upkeep
Community members oversee daily use and cleanliness of the borehole. Routine maintenance and first-line repairs are managed locally, with additional technical support coordinated through sub-county and district authorities when required.
