As some of you may already know my friends John and Stacey Travis started a non-profit organization over 10 years ago called Drop In The Bucket that drills water wells at schools in Africa.
They were recently asked to help provide water to some of the refugees who were forced to flee the famine and conflict in South Sudan and who are now trying to start their lives over in Uganda.
The refugees have been given land in an area called Lamwo and the plan is for them to start growing crops and become self-sufficient. The problem is the area has very few water wells and certainly not enough to support the 31,000 new refugees. Drop in the bucket has been asked to drill 30 water wells for the refugees and the people who already lived in Lamwo so that everybody can get back on their feet.
They currently have funding and commitments for some of the wells, but need to raise another $50,000
The cost of an entire well is $6000 which is a lot, so I’m asking each of you to contribute whatever you can spare to make this happen. If everyone can give $500 we should be able to reach the amount they need to help these people get clean water which will change their lives.
