Welcome to the Shoes and Socks for Kids fundraising page!
While Drop in the Bucket’s primary purpose is providing clean water they are also generously helping me raise money, find, buy and distribute shoes and socks to 724 kids enrolled at the Lobule Primary School. There are refugee children there from both South Sudan and the Congo, they are some of the poorest children in the country.
The story around the above picture which was posted on the Drop in the Bucket facebook page moved me to help. I read it the same day a friend gave me a box of hardly worn boots for my daughter. No kid needs a box of boots but how about one pair. These boys were posing for a picture for a wonderful newly built well and are sharing the one pair of shoes and socks they own between them. The one brother, who’s turn it was to wear the set that day offered a shoe and sock to his brother so he would look nice for the photo.
Shoes and socks not only provide comfort they also helps avoid disease. It is something we all take for granted.
Please help me get some shoes and socks for these kids.
