Education
Educated Girls. Future Leaders

Education has the power to transform lives, strengthen communities, and shape the future of a nation. In South Sudan, too many girls are forced to leave school because of poverty, child marriage, early pregnancy, conflict, and the cost of education. Yet every girl who stays in school has the potential to become a teacher, nurse, doctor, entrepreneur, engineer, or community leader who helps build a stronger future for her country.
Drop in the Bucket is changing that story.
Our Education Program provides a pathway that helps girls stay in school, succeed academically, and continue their education from primary school through university. By combining scholarships, mentorship, academic support, teacher development, and community engagement, we are helping develop South Sudan's next generation of educated women leaders.

Scholarships
Scholarships That Keep Girls in School
This year, more than 500 girls are receiving scholarships through Drop in the Bucket. For many, that scholarship is the difference between continuing their education and leaving school.
Our scholarship program supports girls throughout their educational journey, from secondary school through university. Depending on each student's needs, scholarships may include tuition, boarding, scholastic materials, and other essential support. Every scholarship is more than financial assistance. It is an investment in the future teachers, nurses, doctors, entrepreneurs, engineers, and leaders who will strengthen their communities and help shape South Sudan for generations to come.

Support
Safe Spaces for Girls
Every school day, more than 2,000 girls participate in Drop in the Bucket's Safe Spaces across the eleven primary schools of Nimule Central Boma. One of our flagship programs, Safe Spaces provide academic support, life skills, leadership development, health education, mentoring, and a safe environment where girls are encouraged to ask questions, build confidence, and discover their potential. These programs help girls remain engaged in school while developing the resilience, knowledge, and self-belief they need to overcome challenges and pursue their dreams.

Academic Success
Coaching that helps students succeed
A scholarship opens the door to education but ongoing support helps students succeed.
Throughout the school year, secondary students receiving scholarships attend weekend coaching classes at the Drop in the Bucket compound. During school holidays, scholarship recipients returning home from boarding schools participate in intensive coaching led by experienced local teachers. These additional classes strengthen core academic skills, improve examination performance, and help students reach their full potential.
Stronger Classrooms
Supporting Teachers, Strengthening Schools
Great schools begin with great teachers. Drop in the Bucket partners with educators by providing professional development workshops, instructional support, and teaching resources that strengthen classroom instruction and improve student learning.

Community Engagement
Keeping Girls in School Takes a Community
Keeping girls in school requires the support of entire communities. Drop in the Bucket works with parents, caregivers, teachers, community leaders, and local government to promote the importance of girls' education and address the barriers that too often lead to school dropout. Through community meetings, awareness campaigns, and ongoing dialogue, we help create communities where girls are encouraged, supported, and empowered to complete their education.
LOCAL LEADERSHIP
A Locally Led Program

Our education staff, mentors, teachers, and community officers are based in South Sudan, ensuring every program is shaped by local knowledge and delivered by the communities we serve.
The Future
The Future Starts in Today's Classrooms
We believe the future of South Sudan is already sitting in today's classrooms. By investing in girls today, we are helping develop the educators, healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, innovators, and leaders who will build a stronger nation tomorrow.
