Abelakwap Community well is located in Adamasiko village, Katine Sub County, in Soroti district.
The people of Abelakwap village used to travel over 3 kilometers to the nearby Adamasiko Primary school in search of water. In addition, the community members for many years have been accessing water from an waterhole that was 4 kms away. This waterhole was used by the villagers but also their animals who would stand in the water while drinking. Because the old water source was so far away, the women of the community would end up taking hours to get water. Their spouses would end up upset about them being gone so long that this would cause problems that often resulted in domestic abuse and physical violence. The situation is much better now that the community has water close-by.
