Before the well was drilled, the school’s nearest source of clean water was 2.5 kms away. This was too long a walk to be of any use to to the school, so the stunts would bring their own water containers that they would fill with any water they could find on their way to school each morning. Most of the students were drinking water from ditches, puddles and water holes and neither pupils nor school faculty were drinking safe water.
Drop in the Bucket came to the school and drilled down 60 meters until we hit the aquifer. The well produces and excellent yield of 1.8 cubic meters per hour, which is more than sufficient for the school’s needs.
