Awer Village Before the Well

Before the borehole was drilled, families in Awer village relied on a water hole located about 1 kilometer away. This source was unprotected and unsafe. It exposed residents to waterborne diseases and other health risks.

Even at a relatively short distance, collecting water required daily trips and significant time. This burden often fell on women and children.

What We Built at Awer Village

Drop in the Bucket drilled a borehole well to provide a reliable source of clean groundwater for Awer village. The well was equipped with a standard hand pump, a reinforced concrete apron, and upgraded stainless-steel riser pipes to improve durability and water quality.

This intervention replaced an unsafe water hole with a protected and dependable water source located within the community.

Awer Village Now

Today, families in Awer village have access to clean, safe water closer to their homes. Reliance on an unprotected water hole has been eliminated, reducing the risk of waterborne illness.

Reliable access to clean water improves daily life and supports better health for all 627 community members.

Use & Upkeep

Community members oversee daily use and cleanliness of the borehole. Routine maintenance and first-line repairs are managed locally, with additional technical support coordinated through sub-county and district authorities when required.
