Before the well

Safe water on-site was not available. Households in Aworanga relied on distant and unsafe water sources, increasing daily workloads and exposure to water-related illness.

What We Built in Aworanga village

Drop in the Bucket drilled a community borehole well and installed a standard hand pump with a reinforced concrete apron and upgraded stainless-steel riser pipes. The well was designed for long-term community use and ease of maintenance.

Aworanga now

Clean water is now available within the village for drinking, cooking, and daily hygiene. Collection time has been reduced, supporting household health, school attendance, and daily routines.

Use & Upkeep

A Water User Committee oversees daily use and cleanliness. Trained local hand pump technicians provide first-line maintenance and coordinate with sub-county and district authorities as needed.

Notes

  • Related: See water facts for why replacing unsafe sources with boreholes matters.
