Ayile Primary School

The Ayile Primary School is located in a remote part of the Aromo Sub-County in the Lira district in Uganda. The school currently has 519 pupils enrolled but during the time we spent at the school, we noticed a lot of local children that were not in school. The school administration presented the case that with a working water well many of those local children will start attending school and the school’s enrollment would increase significantly. From our experience at working in East Africa, we have seen many instances where school enrollment doubles or even triples once the school has a permanent source of clean water. In March 2008 Drop in the Bucket drilled a well for the Ayile Primary School.
