The Bwobo Aywaya 2 health center near Gulu, Uganda used to have a major problem with clean water, in that it often didn’t have any. And if the idea of a health center without water seems alarming to you, it should. This was a place where babies were being born every month, so unsafe water wasn’t just a problem, it was a matter of life and death. But all that has changed thanks to a well drilled by Drop in the Bucket. Before the well, the staff had to walk 1.5 km to a spring that had dirty water and was in danger of drying up. Now all the patients including 28 with special needs have access to clean water and can focus on getting better.
