Divine Kingdom Church Before the Well
Divine Kingdom Church is located in Labora Village in Omoro District, northern Uganda, and serves as a central gathering place for the surrounding community. Before the borehole was drilled, safe water was not available near the church, and households relied on distant and often unsafe water sources.
Community members—especially women and children—spent long hours collecting water each day. During dry periods, water scarcity became more severe, increasing health risks and placing additional strain on families.
What We Built at Divine Kingdom Church
Drop in the Bucket drilled a borehole well at Divine Kingdom Church and installed a standard hand pump with a reinforced concrete apron and upgraded stainless-steel riser pipes. The site was selected to provide safe, central access to clean water for households across Labora Village.
Placing the borehole at the church ensures the water point is accessible to community members throughout the week.
Divine Kingdom Church Now
Clean water is now available close to home for drinking, cooking, and daily hygiene. Shorter water collection times allow families to focus more on farming, education, and household responsibilities.
Reliable access to safe water also reduces the risk of waterborne illness and supports healthier living conditions for approximately 300 people in the community.
Use & Upkeep
A Water User Committee oversees daily use and cleanliness of the borehole. Trained local hand pump technicians manage first-line repairs and coordinate with sub-county and district authorities when additional technical support is required.
