God’s Glory Primary School Before the Well
God’s Glory Primary School is located in Gulu District, northern Uganda, and serves hundreds of children from the surrounding area. Before the borehole was drilled, the school did not have a reliable source of clean water on campus, and nearby households also lacked safe access to water.
Students and community members relied on distant and unreliable water sources, increasing daily workloads and health risks. The lack of clean water affected hygiene, attendance, and the overall learning environment at the school.
What We Built at God’s Glory Primary School
Drop in the Bucket drilled a borehole well on the school grounds and installed a standard hand pump with a reinforced concrete apron and upgraded stainless-steel riser pipes. The location was chosen to allow both students and nearby community members to safely access clean water.
Providing a shared water source supports school health while also reducing pressure on unsafe water points in the surrounding community.
God’s Glory Primary School Now
Clean water is now available on site for drinking, handwashing, and daily hygiene. Students can remain on campus throughout the school day, and community members have improved access to safe water close to home.
Reliable water access supports better health outcomes, reduces water-related absences, and creates a more stable environment for learning and community life.
Use & Upkeep
School leadership and community representatives oversee daily use and cleanliness of the borehole. Routine maintenance and first-line repairs are managed locally, with additional technical support coordinated through sub-county and district authorities when required.
