Before the well

Safe water on-site was not available. Households relied on distant and unreliable water sources, increasing daily workloads and exposure to water-related illness.

What We Built in Nyapeya village

Drop in the Bucket drilled a deep community borehole well and installed a standard hand pump with a reinforced concrete apron and upgraded stainless-steel riser pipes. The depth and yield were designed to support reliable access throughout the year.

Nyapeya now

Clean water is now available within the village for drinking, cooking, and daily hygiene. Collection time has been reduced, supporting school attendance, household routines, and community health.

Use & Upkeep

A Water User Committee oversees daily use and cleanliness. Trained local hand pump technicians handle first-line maintenance and coordinate with sub-county and district authorities when needed.

Notes

  • Related: See water facts for why replacing unsafe sources with boreholes matters.
