Before the well was drilled, the pupils from the Paitino primary school would have to walk 4 kms to get to the nearest source of clean water. Due to the long distance, they would resort to drinking any water they could find. This meant that most of the water they were drinking was not clean and not safe to drink. Illnesses caused by consuming dirty water were very common in the village and in the school, so everyone is happy that they school finally has a well. The well is used by the school and the local community.
