Before the well was drilled, the Salem Vocational School and the surrounding village had no water source nearby. The nearest water source was a seasonal stream that would have no water during the dry seasons.
The new well produces 5.6 cubic meters of water per hour which is more than enough water for the school and neighboring villages.
