Training Water Management Committees

Training Water Management Committees

Before the well is drilled, Drop in the Bucket works closely with community members and relevant stakeholders to identify and select the best candidates to become members of the water management committee for the borehole.

Throughout the process we collaborate with the water committee to ensure full community participation in the project. Outlining the roles, responsibilities and expectations of the WMCs and other community stakeholders.

To ensure equal representation within the community, water management committees are organized with a focus on gender balance. In most cases, women will have a 60% representation in the committees formed. All WMC members are provided with t-shirts to show their involvement. Hygiene promotion is carried out during pump testing phase, with a focus on keeping water safe, fencing off the borehole and keeping the area surrounding the well, clean safe and protected against contamination.
